Whirlpool W10190961 Refrigerator Icemaker Replacement Part - Compatible with Select Models, Easy Installation for Home Kitchen Appliances

Item arrived in what appears to be a Certified Whirlpool Parts box and item was securely banded in place. Item was absolutely filthy covered in dirt and heavy dust. There did not appear to be any broken parts, so item has been cleaned and installed.. Appears to be functioning correctly. Optics sensors replaced as well.For those of you wondering, this is a real Whirlpool factory certified part. It arrived in a Whirlpool box, and taking the gear cover off reveals the FSP (Factory Specification Part) molded into the plastic. It isn't a Chinese knockoff, which I was worried about, since I also ordered the ice level fill circuit board at the same time and it WASN'T Whirlpool or FSP. Check my other review for that fiasco. In doing more research on these parts, the original Whirlpool or factory replacement icemaker will have a dark gray or greenish ice mold (where the water fills and ice forms). This does have that. The knockoffs will have a white mold instead.At any rate, I haven't installed this yet, I want to wait to also install the correct ice level circuit board at the same time. Will update my review upon install and confirming this works. But for now, just being a real Whirlpool part earns it five stars.Update 4/22/13: Installed this today, and within a minute it cycled correctly, making ice cubes later. I now have the "Acceler-ice" function activated to make a full bin of ice as quickly as possible.Exact fit for my model fridge, works perfectEasy to installPart was broken and deformed on new unit. Had to remove part from old unit to make unit workOur 9 year old ice maker started leaking and while I kind of liked the Dr. Zhivago effect in the freezer, the spousal unit did not.I removed the old ice maker and on inspection I noticed the anti-stick coating had delaminated in the tray and some quick experimentation showed that the water was wicking between the coating and tray, up over the side of the tray.I could have gotten a generic knock off for less money but I suspected it would have not lasted nearly as long before having a similar failure.The install was straight forward and is easy enough that most home owners with some basic tools should be able to do it. The major challenge, if your unit has been leaking will be to de-ice the old unit to remove it.This icemaker replaced the noisy and dripping one in my whirlpool side by side. There were icicles from the old icemaker and frozen drips on food, shelves and bottom. I researched on line for hours and was led to believe it was the water shut-off solenoid. But after seeing a review here that it actually fixed their leaking icemaker that made icicles where they don't belong and the protective finish was coming off the cube tray too, I ordered one too as the old one was groaning more and more just prior to dumping the ice. I had to take a chance it might fix the icicles everywhere they didn't belong and it did!!!!!!. It is normal with no leaks or icicles anymore!We're enjoying ice again. It works like it did when the fridge was brand new. FYI my model has the light sensor for the ice-bin fill level. It took about 20 minutes to replace. I highly recommend this icemaker.We were able to repair our ice machine with the help of YouTube and this product. It cost us less money then it would have cost a repair man to come out. We have ice againThe "funnel" on this one is slightly taller than the original, so I had to manipulate the fill tube to get the ice maker to clear. Once in place, the fill tube was fine. Did not have to cut the fill tube or trim the funnel. Before installing, the bottom plate from the original needed to be removed and reinstalled on the new unit (3 screws - took about 5 minutes). The ice maker began working within a couple of minutes after installation (filling the tray with water) and ice bin was full by the next morning.Absolute poor product with an expensive price tag . Stay away . The ICE cup on the maker is of poor quality and lasted only 3months the it broke . The price tag was $140.00 . I called the reseller and gave them all the information, including pictures of where it broke . The description even boasted the the parts is OEM. I enquired about a replacement . Never heard back from the reseller .(Parts Net). I will never buy a product from Parts Net again even if it means paying more somewhere else .I installed it myself very simple to install works great, delivered quicklyProduct was delivered ina good enough box but the ice maker was damaged. Nothing some super glue wasn’t able to fix. I needed ice didn’t want to wait any longer. Very dirty as well. I just installled it. Hopefully it works.
